Decodo Web Scraping API
Decodo Web Scraping API
A web scraping API takes a URL and returns the page HTML or structured data, handling proxy rotation, JavaScript rendering and CAPTCHAs for you. You trade infrastructure work for a per-request or per-credit bill.
Good to knowThe hard part is comparing prices, because every vendor uses a different billing unit and charges more for rendering or difficult domains. This table lists the entry price and the billing unit side by side, and flags anything unverified.

Buying guide
Credits, successful requests and threads are not interchangeable. Model your cost on a small pilot.
Required for SPAs. It usually multiplies the credit cost per request.
Search engines, marketplaces and social networks often cost more credits per request.
Use free credits to test unblocking on your actual targets.
Guide
A web scraping API is a service you call with a URL and an API key, and it sends back the page HTML or structured data while it deals with proxies, JavaScript rendering and CAPTCHAs for you. You stop running scraping infrastructure and start paying per request or per credit.
The one thing a buyer must know: the headline price is almost never the price you pay. Every vendor bills in a different unit (credits, successful requests, concurrent threads), and rendering JavaScript or hitting a hard domain costs more of that unit. Compare vendors on cost per successful page on your own targets, not on the plan price.
There is no single best web scraping API, because the right one depends on your targets and your billing tolerance. What you can do is group the options by how they behave.
ScraperAPI and ScrapingBee both start at $49/mo in our data and use credits, with higher consumption for JavaScript rendering, premium or stealth modes and hard domains. Scrape.do starts at $29/mo and unlocks proxies, rendering and geo-targeting on every tier. Crawlbase bills per successful request by domain complexity and has the highest entry price of the group, from $149/mo. ZenRows publishes its credit multipliers openly, which makes it easy to model costs, though we have not verified its plan prices.
Decodo's Web Scraping API has the lowest paid entry price in this comparison, from $19/mo, billed per 1,000 successful requests, with Standard or Premium proxies and a JavaScript toggle per request. Geonode sells unlimited monthly plans priced by concurrent threads, from $47/mo, so throughput rather than request count is your limit.
Firecrawl crawls whole sites and sitemaps and returns LLM-ready markdown or structured extracts. It is not a classic unblock API for heavily protected sites, so do not pick it for that job.
If the site offers an official API that returns what you need, use it: the data is cleaner, the rules are written down and nothing breaks when the page layout changes. Scraping is for the cases where no such API exists, where it is too limited, or where its quotas and pricing do not fit.
A web scraping API sits between the two. You still get page data, but someone else maintains the proxies and the unblocking. Running your own scraper with a headless browser gives you full control and the lowest per-page cost at scale, but you carry the maintenance. If you already run scrapers and only need clean IPs, buying proxies is the lighter option (see what is a proxy for the basics).
Scraper API pricing looks simple on the plan page and gets complicated on the first real run. A request with JavaScript rendering can use several times the credits of a plain HTML request, and domains such as search engines, marketplaces and social networks often cost more again. Premium or residential modes add another multiplier.
That is why the table on our page lists the billing unit next to the entry price. A $29 plan with every feature unlocked can beat a $19 plan if your targets need premium proxies on every request. The only reliable method is a pilot: send the same 100 URLs through each vendor, count the successes, then divide what you spent by the number of successful pages.
With a web scraping API in Python, the code is usually a single HTTP call: you pass your key, the target URL and a few options such as rendering or country, and parse the response. The requests library is enough for most vendors, and many also publish an official client.
Parameter names differ between vendors, so read each one's documentation instead of assuming. Keep the key in an environment variable, set a timeout, retry failed requests with a short backoff, and log which options each request used so you can explain the bill later. If you need data from a page that only loads after a click, check that the vendor supports browser actions or switch to a headless browser such as Playwright.
An AI web scraper is a good fit when the output goes into an LLM pipeline, and a no-code scraper is a good fit when nobody on the team writes code. Firecrawl returns markdown that is ready for retrieval or agents, and it crawls from a URL or sitemap.
Browse AI is a point-and-click scraper and monitor with scheduled runs, which suits operators who need a spreadsheet of structured data and alerts when a page changes. Apify is a platform of ready-made scrapers (Actors) plus a runtime for your own code, billed on platform usage and per-Actor pricing, so the total depends on the Actor you choose. All three trade some control and per-page cost for speed of setup.
Collecting public data is lawful in many places, but the answer depends on the country, the site and the data. Terms of service, privacy laws and copyright still apply, and courts and platform rules differ from one jurisdiction to another.
Respect robots.txt, avoid personal data you have no reason to hold, and do not collect anything behind a login you are not entitled to use. For business use, ask a lawyer before you build on scraped data.
Start with the free tier, then run the same small batch through two or three vendors. Our table compares entry price, free tier, JavaScript rendering and residential IPs, and your test should check the same four things against your real targets. If you want to try before paying, our free web scraping APIs ranking lists the quotas.
